Winding Form for the Production of the Non-planar Coils for the Wendelstein 7–X Experiment
The winding forms for the W7-X coils serve not only as a tool for the winding of the coils, but also as an aid to the geometric surveying of the winding packet. Hence, they must be manufactured with extreme precision. The solid construction ensures, that also with repeated use, the precision demands remain fulfilled.
Description:
The winding forms are constructed from massive steel castings, that were mechanically formed with extreme precision. A range of tolerance of ± 0.25 mm to the planned contour was specified and was achieved.
