Production of a Complete Prototype Dipole and of Dipole Components for the Accelerator Ring LHC.
![]() | Customer: CERN, Geneva (Switzerland) During the prototype-phase, Babcock Noell developed, in co-operation with CERN, the dipole magnets for the LHC. Various design versions and materials for the components were used during construction of the prototype and were tested and optimized, with respect to the application of the series. |
Special Features:
During the development phase, the intended length of the dipoles was enlarged from 10 m to 15 m. Due to this modification, the dipole magnets are no longer straight, but must be adapted to the course curvature.
